Lyse has signed an agreement with the industrial group OneCo for the installation of at least 140,000 automatic electricity meters. When the major roll-out starts at Lyse Elnett in 2015, more than 40 installers will be at work every day. The contract is worth around NOK 140 million.<\/p>\n

\"This is an important contract, and the last major contract we enter into in the project to roll out new electricity meters. It's good to have come this far. Choosing the right installer is crucial for a successful roll-out,\" says CEO Torbj\u00f8rn Johnsen of Lyse Elnett.<\/p>\n

The contract has been put out to public tender and several installers have submitted tenders. The tenders were carefully reviewed before OneCo was selected.<\/p>\n

\"Expertise and the ability to deliver over many years while the project is underway have been particularly important in addition to price when choosing a supplier. In addition, OneCo is a solid company with local roots in our region,\" says Johnsen.<\/p>\n

The agreement means that OneCo will be responsible for booking, meter replacement, end-customer follow-up, reporting, registration, operation and maintenance. The delivery also includes options to purchase installation services of infrastructure, other components and resource management for the roll-out of new meters.<\/p>\n

We have gradually gained good experience in such projects and look forward to starting up the pilot project during the autumn. Lyse has chosen a project model that places great demands on us as a supplier, but at the same time provides for extensive involvement and cooperation during the project. This autumn, 300 grid customers will receive new electricity meters as part of a pilot to test the entire value chain from first contact with the customer until the meter has been in operation for a month. The first customers will live in all the municipalities in the grid company's catchment area. The customers will be selected at random to make the pilot as real as possible.<\/p>\n

\nThe authorities have decided that all homes, cabins and commercial buildings must have new digital electricity meters by 2019. The new meters will register consumption on an hourly basis and send data automatically to the grid company. The aim is a more efficient energy market and for customers to become more aware of their consumption and shift some of their consumption to times of the day when prices are lower. Replacing the electricity meter is financed through grid rent and does not result in an extra invoice when the meter is replaced.<\/p>\n
